If you just want to see a graph of the throughput of eth0, you might have
a look at gkrellm.  It may be overkill for you though since it shows
several other graphs as well.  But it's configurable and perhaps it can be
customized to fit your needs.

The default congiguration shows graphs for CPU, Proc, Disk, eth0, and ppp.
