[lug] Curses mode screens gone FUBAR

I believe this is a problem with the system font.  The release notes for
redhat 9 said that the switch to utf-8 and the new system font made a
number of man pages go weird.

Since I don't need foreign language support, I changed the
/etc/sysconfig/i18n file to have the following contents:


and then rebooted so that the changes would take affect.
