[lug] openldap monitor backend

I've been having some openldap connection problems and I noticed that
there's a "monitor" backend that can be used to query slapd about how
its doing.

I can't make any sense out of the data it returns (e.g.

ldapsearch -b cn=Total,cn=Connections,cn=Monitor -x 'objectclass=*'

# Total, Connections, Monitor
dn: cn=Total,cn=Connections,cn=Monitor
objectClass: monitorCounterObject
cn: Total

Does anyone have any experience with this? I've got openldap 2.2 on a
RHEL4.4 box.

I would have expected an attribute in the above that said total
connections: 105 or something.

I found this page:

but it doesn't seem to match openldap. I haven't been able to tickle
the various search engines into giving me insight into how the monitor
backend is supposed to work.
